We talked vintage styling with Louisa who is renovating her gorgeous Norfolk home.
How would you describe your interior style?
I call my own individual interior style elegantly knackered. It's a mixture of rustic, vintage and bohemian aesthetics with strong utilitarian undertones. I love furniture and homewares which have character, patina and with a story to tell. My interior style is quite textural, drawing on natural and raw materials to add a sense of depth to my interior schemes. Despite my love of natural and raw materials, there is usually a pop of colour in every room - I just can't help myself.
How do you use vintage in your home?
Most of my projects are majorly vintage-heavy - these pieces are what add depth and character to my schemes. I like to use pieces that weren't originally intended to be used within the home, for example using a workbench as a console table or vintage builder trestles as table legs.
What do you love most about buying vintage?
A number of things really, including the thrill of the chase. I really love the thought of sustainable living and saving something from landfill - one man's junk is another man's treasure. In most cases, the items I buy are considerably more cost-effective than buying new on the high street and in my opinion are far nicer, with a much longer shelf life too. Vintage items were made to last, unlike modern-day alternatives.
