Following years of industry experience, Leonora set up her own interior design studio in 2005. She tells us what she enjoys most about using antiques in her schemes.
How would you describe your interiors style?
I would say my style is colourful and classic with some modern touches. I always want to create comfortable interiors that people want to live in for a long time. I have a huge love for fabrics, so I always enjoy creating layers of colour in a scheme and using a mix of new and old pieces.
How do you use antiques in your projects?
I often use antique pieces in my schemes. I love using antique side tables in either bedrooms or sitting rooms to create some depth in colour and always love using a pretty antique chest of drawers in a bedroom. I also often look for antique armchairs to reupholster. Recently I worked on a more modern project, but we used an antique dining table for the kitchen and I loved the way it added a more traditional element to the room.
What do you love most about sourcing antiques?
I enjoy wandering around antiques shops searching for the right piece for a particular space. I always want to know more about the provenance as I think that's important for the client as well as myself. We live near Tetbury which is a brilliant place for finding antiques. I am often there browsing the beautiful shops.
What does home mean to you?
My home is a comfortable space where I can relax and feel comfortable and safe. I have a number of comfy sofas and armchairs at home, with endless cushions which is a great excuse to use lots of fabrics and colour. We have been lucky enough to inherit a few beautiful antique pieces which work so well with the style and design of the rooms.
