Charlotte has injected colour and texture into her Victorian home renovation in South London. She tells us about her style and what home means to her.
How would you describe your interiors style?
I get asked this a lot and I don’t think I have a style in particular as I always try and experiment with colour, fabrics and textures. Colour will always be at the base of my designs and something that I never shy away from so I would say colour use is my signature.
How do you use antiques in your home?
They are the core to all of my projects, for example we found the apothecary cabinets for the kitchen before we even had the architect design the space. I always try and use as much antique and reclaimed furniture, lighting, shelving and small details such as hooks and door knobs. My newest antique search obsession is for textiles, crochet blankets and tablecloths.
What do you love most about buying vintage?
Finding something that helps you build a look that is unique, knowing that you are also making planet-conscious decisions. I also just love the history, and I always wonder what a particular piece’s journey has been, the life it’s lived and the people that have used it.
What does home mean to you?
No truer saying than home is where the heart is. It’s comfort, laughter, kitchen dancing, a cocoon of safety surrounded by items that bring you joy and evoke memories.
