Carina is the founder of Studio Raymond, a London based interior design firm that specialises in residential projects. She reveals what she loves most about sourcing antiques.
How would you describe your interiors style?
I would describe my interiors style as eclectic - I love to mix old with new and layer colours with pattern. I interpret my client’s personal aesthetic and lifestyle requirements in order to create a home that is tailor-made for them. I love to help my clients nurture and hone their interiors style by encouraging them to make braver choices.
How do you use antiques in your projects?
I grew up with antiques, my parents and grandparents homes were filled with pieces that are still cherished now. Often, my clients own antique or vintage pieces that they hold dear to their hearts, these form a starting point for our schemes. I love the unique story behind antiques. Visually, they add a sense of balance and gravitas to a room.
What do you love most about sourcing antiques?
I love the unexpected nature of sourcing antiques, you never quite know what you will find. It could be the key item that completes a space and ties a scheme together. I love visiting antique markets and auctions, you can find treasures that you never knew you needed. It is the story behind a piece that really draws me in.
What does home mean to you?
Home is where my husband and daughter are - a sanctuary where I feel safe and relaxed. I believe that interiors directly affect your mood. I therefore take time and effort in making our home beautiful and comfortable for us, using a few key pieces with history and sentimental value that follow us everywhere.
